DC Pumps - 12V Electric Pump

When you need to transfer diesel in the field, on a service vehicle, or away from mains power, a 12V DC pump is the professional's answer. Piusi 12V DC pumps connect directly to a vehicle or equipment battery, delivering reliable, high-flow diesel transfer wherever the job takes you. Trusted by tradespeople, farmers, mine operators, and fleet managers across Australia, the Piusi range combines Italian engineering with practical, durable design built for real working conditions.
What Makes a 12V DC Pump the Right Choice?
A 12V DC electric pump runs off standard vehicle or equipment batteries, no power outlet, no generator required. That makes them the go-to solution for:
-
Mobile service vehicles and lube trucks
-
On-farm refuelling direct from a drum or tank
-
Construction sites without fixed power infrastructure
-
Remote and off-grid operations
Flow rates across the Piusi 12V range run from 32 litres per minute up to 85 litres per minute, with duty cycles suited to both quick top-ups and extended refuelling runs.

12V vs 24V vs 240V, Which Voltage Do You Need?
-
12V DC, Connects to standard vehicle and equipment batteries. Best for utes, service trucks, and smaller mobile setups.
-
24V DC, Suited to trucks, heavy plant, and equipment running a 24V electrical system.
-
240V AC, for fixed installations with mains power: workshops, depots, and bulk storage tanks.
→ Browse our 24V DC Pumps or 240V AC Pumps if those better suit your setup.
Use Cases
-
Mobile Service Vehicles Mount a Piusi 12V pump directly to your ute tray or service body. Connect to an onboard diesel tank and refuel machinery, generators, or vehicles in the field without returning to a depot. The Panther 56 and EX50 are popular choices here.
-
Agricultural Refuelling Refuel tractors, harvesters, and implements straight from an IBC or self-bunded tank. 12V DC pumps run off your farm vehicle battery , no extra power source needed. Pair with a flow meter to track fuel usage across your machinery fleet.
-
Construction and Civil Sites Keep excavators, compactors, and site equipment fuelled without fixed infrastructure. Compact enough to fit in a toolbox or mount to a site trailer.
-
Mining and Resources The PIUSI EXGO is ATEX-rated for use in potentially explosive atmospheres, making it suitable for mining and petrochemical environments where standard pumps can't be used.
- Emergency and Backup Refuelling Keep a portable Piusi 12V kit in the workshop or response vehicle for unplanned fuel transfers, generator top-ups, or equipment breakdowns away from base.

FAQs , 12V DC Diesel Transfer Pumps
-
What fluids can a 12V DC pump transfer?
Most Piusi 12V DC pumps are designed for diesel (gasoil). Some models are also compatible with biodiesel blends. They are not suitable for petrol (gasoline) unless specifically rated , check individual product specs.
-
How do I wire a 12V DC pump?
Piusi 12V pumps connect directly to a 12V battery via the supplied cable. Most models include a simple two-wire connection. Ensure your cable run and fusing are rated for the pump's current draw , refer to the product datasheet or call us for wiring guidance.
-
What flow rate do I need?
For occasional top-ups (drums, small tanks), 32,50 lpm is sufficient. For faster, higher-volume refuelling of plant or multiple machines, look at 70,85 lpm models. Faster flow rates also benefit from a larger bore hose.
-
What is a duty cycle and why does it matter?
Duty cycle refers to how long a pump can run continuously before it needs to cool down. Most Piusi 12V pumps have a 30-minute duty cycle , 30 minutes on, 30 minutes off. The EXGO is the exception, rated for continuous duty. If you're doing long or back-to-back refuelling sessions, factor this in.
-
Can I use a 12V pump on a 24V system?
No. Running a 12V pump on a 24V system will damage the motor. Piusi makes a dedicated range of 24V DC pumps for trucks and heavy equipment with 24V electrical systems.
-
Do these pumps come with a nozzle and hose?
Some models (like the EX50 Kit) come complete with nozzle, hose, and meter. Standalone pumps do not include hose and nozzle , these can be added separately or purchased as a bundle.
-
Is there a warranty on Piusi pumps?
Yes , Piusi products sold through PIUSI Shop come with a manufacturer's warranty. Contact our team for warranty terms specific to each model.
